(Guardian) Netanyahu rules out ceasefire deal that would mean Gaza withdrawal - Benjamin Netanyahu has said he will not accept any ceasefire deal that requires the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners or the departure of Israeli troops from Gaza, as the Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyeh, said he was willing to travel to Cairo to discuss the proposals.
- He said Israel would achieve all its objectives, adding: “That means eliminating Hamas, returning all of our hostages and ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel.” Until then, no Palestinian prisoners would be freed from Israeli jails, Netanyahu said.
- Meanwhile, Haniyeh said: “Our response to the proposal will be on the basis that the priority is stopping the aggression against Gaza and withdrawing the occupation forces from the strip.

| Francia: (Guardian) EU must defend Ukraine even if US reduces military support, Macron says - The European Union has to make bold decisions to defend Ukraine, pre-empting any US decision to withhold or reduce its military support, Emmanuel Macron has said.
In a speech in Sweden, which hopes to be the next country to join Nato, the French president also said the future security architecture of Europe, including arms control agreements covering European territory, could no longer be settled simply by the US and Russia, and Europe had to have a right to determine its own future. - But Macron also argued that if Europe did step up, and helped to prevent a Russian victory, the US through Nato could no longer have a monopoly in determining future relations with Moscow.
Spagna: (Guardian) Spanish parliament rejects amnesty bill for Catalan separatists - The fragility of Spain’s socialist-led minority government has been laid bare after its bill offering a controversial amnesty to Catalan separatists was scuppered by one of the Catalan pro-independence parties that had demanded the measure in return for helping secure Pedro Sánchez a second term as prime minister.
- However, the bill was defeated by 179 votes to 171 in the 350-seat parliament after Puigdemont’s centre-right Junts party voted against the draft legislation, arguing that it did not offer sufficient legal protection for those being investigated for terrorism-related crimes. The bill will now be sent back to a parliamentary committee.

Nord America | USA: Biden says he has decided US response to Jordan drone attack - Joe Biden has said he has decided how to respond to a drone strike in northern Jordan which killed three American soldiers and wounded dozens more
- Biden told reporters that he held Iran responsible for the drone strike on a US base on the Jordanian-Syrian border on Sunday, “in the sense that they’re supplying the weapons” to Kataib Hezbollah.
- US officials have suggested that the US response would come in phases rather than all at once. “It’s fair for you to expect that we will respond in an appropriate fashion and it is very possible that what you’ll see is a tiered approach here, not just a single action, but essentially multiple actions,” John Kirby, the White House national security spokesperson, told reporters on Air Force One on Tuesday.
