(Reuters) US again vetoes UN action in Israel-Hamas war, blocks ceasefire call - The US on Tuesday again vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution on the Israel-Hamas war, blocking a demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire as it instead pushes the 15-member body to call for a temporary ceasefire linked to the release of hostages held by Hamas.
- Thirteen council members voted in favor of the Algerian-drafted text, while Britain abstained. It was the third such U.S. veto since the start of the current fighting on Oct. 7.
- "Demanding an immediate, unconditional ceasefire without an agreement requiring Hamas to release the hostages will not bring about a durable peace. [...]" Thomas-Greenfield [US Ambassador to the UN] told the council ahead of the vote.

Germania: (Politico) Germany faces a political crisis over sending Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine - On Tuesday, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, a member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and chair of the Bundestag's defense committee, said she'll support an opposition Christian Democrat measure that explicitly calls for sending the Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv.

- The missiles have a range of about 500 kilometers and a powerful warhead that can destroy reinforced targets or key infrastructure like bridges. That's what's giving Chancellor Olaf Scholz pause, thanks to worries about escalating the conflict with Russia.
